Nutrition - The Most Important Piece to Your Success

Most people think that results come directly from exercise.  In fact, it comes directly from nutrition.  Exercise will accelerate and increase your results because of your nutrition.  So pay attention to what goes in your mouth at each and every meal.

What To Eat?
This part isn't rocket science.  It's a matter of making smart choices.  And let's not call it a "diet."  Do diets work?  Yes.  But the word implies temporary change.  We want lasting results.  And to get those results we need to "have a diet", not be on one.  Stick to whole foods, not processed foods.  And if at some point it was a living thing, it's good to eat.  The brighter the color, generally the better it is for you.  When it comes to protein, think nuts, grains, chicken, fish, and turkey.  Try to eat red meat only once a week.  See, it's not rocket science.  Think of your body as a car and your fitness journey as the road trip.  What type of fuel do you want to be putting in - sludge or clean burning, high powered octane?

When To Eat?
Almost as important as what you eat is when you eat.  To get your metabolism working on all cylinders it's recommended that you eat 5-6 small meals a day.  And definitely eat breakfast, because this gets the engine pumping!  When you do eat, be sure to have a good ratio of protein and carbs and include fruits and vegetables in three of your meals.  Depending on your body type, you may not want to eat an hour before bed, as your body will store those unburned calories as fat.  For you ectomorphs, eating before bed is a must if you are looking to gain mass.  Each of my meals is 500-600 calories, and I eat six times a day.  Yep, that means I'm eating every 2-3 hours.

Can I Cheat?
I'd be lying to you if I said that I've never cheated on a meal.  But if I do cheat, it's usually on one meal a week.  In fact, cheating is good for you because you are allowing yourself to satisfy your body's cravings.  If you do not give it to those cravings, it builds and builds.  Then suddenly you find yourself cheating on several meals.  So go ahead and cheat once a week, just don't go crazy.  Keep in mind that it takes your body about two days to rid yourself of what you just ate.  If you want results, the cleaner you eat, the better you'll look and feel.  What's my vice?   Chocolate.

Things To Consider Using

Sometimes your body needs a few extra things to get the results you want.  For me, that includes vitamins, whey protein, Shakeology, and recovery drinks.  Each body is different, so be sure to research what you may need to add to your daily intake to achieve your goal.  What I like about Beachbody is that it's a one-stop shop when it comes to nutrition and fitness.  Below are just a few of the great things they offer.
